Facial Moles

It is true that moles can appear anywhere on the body, and that includes the face. Despite the fact that some individuals don’t mind their facial moles (and some even embrace them), others find such moles embarrassing and would prefer it if they were gone.

Facial moles aren’t more dangerous or any different really than moles throughout the body and so, their removal is not essential unless they exhibit shape, size and color changes, which may infer skin cancer. Therefore, the most common reason for removing them is for beauty reasons, and this can be done in several ways.

Using Makeup

For people who do not exhibit many facial moles and the moles they do have are flat and unremarkable, the least expensive and simplest way to deal with them is to use makeup. There are quite a few products available for covering various skin blemishes, such as birthmarks, scars, and moles. These products can be applied by both males and females and work well since they are identical to the individual’s skin color. The downside is that such makeup has to be used on a daily basis to have its concealing effects, although it doesn’t take very long to do.

Lightening of Moles

You will also be able to find in the local grocery store or pharmacy various prescription creams and natural treatments which, when applied regularly, lighten the mole color and make it less noticeable. Do note that it does take quite a bit of time to achieve the desired results, sometimes requiring several applications per day, with desired results taking weeks.

A majority of these treatments are affordable and straight forward to use, including such basic ingredients as baking soda, tea tree oil, and vinegar, and produce both a drying and color lightening effects. It is advisable to give the home remedies a try before moving on to the medical treatments.

One such medical treatment uses laser. The physician targets the laser beam at the mole surface, causing it to be bleached and producing the same color as the surrounding skin. Since no scarring and only temporary redness and irritation may be exhibited, this type of procedure is very popular for treating face moles.

Surgical Approaches

Surgical mole removal has been an accepted practice for many years. The physician uses local anesthetic and then removes the mole with a scalpel. The main disadvantage of this method is that scarring may occur, which defeats the purpose of having the mole removed only to be replaced with another noticeable mark.

However, surgery is the only choice available for cases where a facial mole has began changing into a potential medical danger. Such cases may require a specialist plastic surgeon who is able to get rid of the mole safely and with as small as damage to the skin as possible. Any resulting scars can be concealed by makeup, and may actually fade post-surgery.
